The Ultimate Local Guide to St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island & Madeira Beach 🌴☀️

The Ultimate Local Guide to St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island & Madeira Beach 🌴☀️

There’s a reason people fall in love with Florida’s Gulf Coast.

From the soft white sand and glowing sunsets to the laid-back beach bars, live music, hidden food spots, and endless coastal energy — St. Pete Beach and the surrounding beach towns offer a lifestyle that’s hard to match anywhere else.

As a local who spends time exploring everything from Pass-A-Grille to Madeira Beach, I wanted to create a guide that highlights some of the best local hotspots, hidden gems, and experiences for both visitors and locals alike.

Whether you’re here for vacation, a weekend getaway, or thinking about relocating to the area, here are some of my favorite spots worth checking out.

---

🌅 Best Sunrise & Sunset Spots

Pass-A-Grille Beach
If you want the classic relaxed Old Florida beach vibe, Pass-A-Grille is hard to beat. Early mornings here are peaceful, beautiful, and perfect for coffee walks, sunrise photography, or simply slowing down for a bit.

The sunsets are incredible too — especially near Paradise Grille.

Local Tip:
Grab breakfast nearby and take a walk down Historic 8th Avenue afterward.

---

Sunset Beach (Treasure Island)
One of the most underrated sunset spots in the area.

Sunset Beach has a slightly more local and laid-back feel with beach bars, volleyball, live music, and amazing golden-hour views.

This is one of my favorite places to capture content and coastal lifestyle footage.

---

🍹 Best Local Beach Bars & Hangouts

Jimmy B’s Beach Bar
A staple of Saint Pete Beach nightlife and live music.

If you want:
✔ live bands
✔ beach cocktails
✔ volleyball energy
✔ sunset atmosphere

This is one of the go-to spots.

---

Ka Tiki on Treasure Island
Perfect for beachside drinks, casual food, great live music and sunset vibes just off the sand.

Tourists love it, but locals still frequent it because the atmosphere stays fun and relaxed. And it's amazingly affordable and not a tourist trap.

---

Toasted Monkey
Great energy, live music, outdoor seating, and one of the better casual beach bar environments in the area.

---

 🍤 Favorite Food Spots

Sea Dog Brewing Co.
Great waterfront atmosphere with solid seafood and drinks.

A good stop after a beach day or sunset cruise.

---

Rick’s Reef
A local favorite for breakfast and brunch near Saint Pete Beach.

Very relaxed coastal vibe and consistently good food.

---

VIP Mexican
One of those hidden local spots that many visitors miss.

Excellent casual food option if you want a break from seafood and beach bars.

---

🚲 Best Ways to Explore the Area

One of the best things about St. Pete Beach and Treasure Island is that the area is incredibly bike-friendly.

Some of my favorite things to do:
✔ beach cruising
✔ sunset walks
✔ local café hopping
✔ checking out hidden beach accesses
✔ exploring small side streets and waterfront neighborhoods

There’s always something new to discover.

---

🎶 Live Music & Coastal Energy

The local live music scene is one of the things that gives this area its personality.

Many of the beach bars feature:
- acoustic artists
- local bands
- sunset sets
- reggae
- classic rock
- country
- 90s alternative

There’s almost always somewhere nearby with live music and a relaxed coastal crowd.

And don't forget to Uber up to John's Pass in Madeira Beach to stroll the boardwalk to explore shops, restaurants and bars where you're almost guaranteed to catch dolphin sitings !
